U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES DISTRICT 6 REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE

Q: Partisan politics has been blamed for political gridlock at the federal level, ranging from approval of spending bills to Supreme Court nominations to filibusters on legislation. How is partisanship most problematic and how would you try to promote bipartisan efforts?

A: We need to treat each other as colleagues, not simply as Republicans or Democrats — not strictly following party lines for the sheer spite of it. Simply Americans representing Americans. I will work with both sides of the aisle and put America First.

Q: Congress and the president so far have been unable to reach a compromise on a legislative solution for young immigrants who came into the U.S. illegally as children. Where do you stand on the “Dreamers” issue?

A: It was started in 2012, however it does not provide a pathway to citizenship. We need to offer them a path to legally become U.S. citizens within a certain timeframe. The “Dreamers” need to become citizens within that timeframe or be subject to deportation.
