The Greenfield-Central swimming and diving teams celebrated senior night in style, splitting with Hoosier Heritage Conference foe Yorktown at home Wednesday.

The Greenfield-Central boys won 109-76. The Cougars girls narrowly lost 96-90.

The top finishers for the girls were Maci Montgomery in 1-meter diving and Carley Logan in the 500-yard freestyle. Logan teamed with Megan Coffin, Anne Marie DeKeyser and Braedy Laymon to win the 400 free relay.

For the boys, Ben Rader, who already owns the 11-dive school record, broke his own six-dive record for the second time this year with 296.35 points.

Zach Cook won the 200 individual medley and joined Ethan Kile and Chris Joven for the first-place 400 free relay.

Kile won the 100 free and 100 backstroke, and Austin Payne took the 50 free. Payne was also part of the winning 200 free relay.

Royals finish 1st, 2nd at Elwood three-way

The Eastern Hancock Royals swimming and diving teams had a strong showing at the Elwood three-way meet Wednesday.

The boys team won with a score of 112. University was second with 94, and host Elwood was third at 56. The Royals girls were second with 93 points. Elwood won the meet with 114. University was third at 61.

Several Royals set lifetime-best times, including Elijah Harris in both the 200 free and 100 butterfly, while Chloe McCarty achieved the feat in the 200 IM and 500 free. Garret Henderson set a new best time in the 200 IM and 100 free. Matt Carter was the team’s other two-event standout with a lifetime-best in the 100 free and 100 breaststroke.

Nick Edwards posted the same in the 200 free, while Ethan Bolding followed suit in the 50 free. Chris Waldon owned the 100 butterfly, and Lane Coffin set a new best in the 50 free.

Grace McCartney starred in the 100 free, Gage Deiser in the 100 backstroke and Audrey Effing in the 100 breaststroke.

Wrestling

Marauders topple host Shenandoah

The Mt. Vernon wrestling team wrapped up its regular-season schedule on Wednesday night with a 54-21 win against host Shenandoah.

The Marauders won 10 matches overall to topple the Raiders. Among the winners were: Chase Wilkerson, Chris Wilkerson, Isaiah Diaz, Drake Kendrex and P.J. Sterrett.

Mt. Vernon’s next event will be at the Shelbyville Sectional on Jan. 27.
