To the editor:

One of the primary reasons we are longtime subscribers to the Greenfield Daily Reporter is the Hancock County high school sports coverage.

We want to thank sports editor Rich Torres for his tireless work in covering high school sports for the paper. It is remarkable how he consistently creates content for the four county schools and all sports, regardless of popularity and school revenue generation, given the number of events.

Many times, these events overlap, and we know Rich is moving from one event to another throughout his day. His work spans the physical paper circulation, online website and social media.

If one is interested in Hancock County high school sports, Rich is the source to turn to for reliable and timely updates. His articles go deeper than the scores, as they provide insight into the student-athletes as well as the educator-coaches who so willingly give of their time to promote athletic endeavors and shape young adults.

Along these same lines, Rich does more than create compelling content; his interactions with these student-athletes is professional, and he personally serves as a role model in how to work with and respect the press.

We are parents of a high school student-athlete, and we frequently tell our son how fortunate he is to play sports at a school that experiences the coverage the Greenfield Daily Reporter provides — it greatly enhances the experience.

Thank you, Rich Torres, for all you do for our youth and for the Greenfield Daily Reporter.
