GREENFIELD — One woman is dead, and three others were hospitalized after a three-vehicle crash Sunday night south of Greenfield.

The accident happened around 6 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of State Road 9 and County Road 400S.

Jennifer Harlow, 37, of Fountaintown, was driving westbound on County Road 400S about 6 p.m. Sunday when her minivan entered the intersection with State Road 9, where it was struck by a pickup truck, said Maj. Brad Burkhart, Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.

After the truck, driven by Dana Hamilton of Greenfield, hit the van, Harlow’s vehicle was pushed into the southbound lane. Both vehicles were then struck by a Jeep driven by Brian Lunsford of Greensburg.

Harlow was pronounced dead at the scene, officers said. The other two drivers, as well as a passenger in the Jeep, were transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital by ambulance. One passenger of the truck was transported to the same hospital by helicopter. All patients were conscious and alert at the time they were transported, police said.

Members of the county’s Fatal Accident Crash Team reported to the scene to take measurements, photograph the cars involved and question area drivers who saw the wreck happen.

The crash remained under investigation at press time.

The intersection of State Road 9 and County Road 400S was closed for about four hours while officers investigated.
