Cougars baseball golf outing set for October

Registration for the 11th annual Greenfield-Central Baseball Golf Outing is now open. The event will be conducted Oct. 1 at Royal Hylands Golf Club in Knightstown.

The cost of the event is $70 per player or $280 per foursome, which includes golf, carts and dinner. The outing is a Florida Scramble with registration scheduled to start at noon, golf at 1 p.m. and dinner to follow.

The deadline to prepay and register is Sept. 24. Checks must be made payable to G-C Baseball. 

In event of a rainout, a rain check for one round of golf with a cart will be issued by Royal Hylands to all participants.

Final Prospect League weekly honors announced

ELKVILLE, Ill. — The Prospect League named Brad Harrison (Quincy Gems / Southern Illinois University) and Daryin Lewis (Chillicothe Paints / University of Rio Grande) as Player and Pitcher of the Week.

Harrison, from O’Fallon, Ill., hit .526 (10-for-19) over the final five games of the season. The six-foot-four, 205-pound outfielder finished the season with a .315 batting average, 23 doubles and eight home runs. He also walked 34 times.

Lewis, from Circleville, Ohio, appeared in two games for the Paints over the final week of the season. The right-hander pitched a total of 11 innings, allowed just one run on nine hits and struck out 12. Lewis started the Paints’ final game of the season on August 5 and pitched a nine-inning complete game, allowing just one run on eight hits, walked one and struck out 10.

Fort Wayne’s Jordan joins IHSAA Foundation Board

Joseph Jordan, President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne, has been named to the Board of Directors of the IHSAA Foundation, Commissioner Bobby Cox announced Monday.

A lifetime resident of Fort Wayne, Jordan has over 25 years of experience at the executive level of organizational management, working in community organizations whose primary focus is youth and family development. He is in his ninth year overseeing the Boys & Girls Clubs.

Jordan received his degree in Business Management from Indiana Institute of Technology and he earned his Master’s Degree in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University.
