‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ plays at Marian

INDIANAPOLIS — “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” plays through July 9 at the Marian University Theatre, 3200 Cold Spring Road. Based on the novel by Victor Hugo, this production marks the Indiana premiere of the Disney musical of the disfigured hunchback who haunts the bell tower of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The recluse falls in love with a gypsy girl being persecuted by the officials of the very church who took him in as an infant. Tickets, priced at $25, are available online at bobdirex.com.

Father paints mythical life in Footlite’s ‘Big Fish’

INDIANAPOLIS – Footlite Musicals presents the community theater premiere of “Big Fish” as its young adult summer production. Performed by actors age 18 through 25, “Big Fish” recounts the ordinary life of a dying man who wants to be a hero to his son. He tells stories of his life that paint him as nearly mythical. The boy grows up questioning the tales, but finds the truth in the end. The show features Mt. Vernon graduate Samantha Russell as Jenny Hill (played by Helena Bonham Carter in the Broadway production.) “Big Fish” opens Friday and runs through July 23 at Footlite Musicals, 1847 N.
