Jameson throws no hitter

Greenfield-Central senior and Ball State recruit Drey Jameson started his final year of high school baseball on a high note. Jameson threw a complete game no-hitter to open the season on Saturday against Lawrence North as the Cougars won 3-0.

Tyler Farrell had two hits and two RBIs in the win.

In the second game, Greenfield-Central completed the sweep with a 5-2 win. Adam Hutchison earned the victory on the mound.

Several Cougars had a hit, according to head coach Robbie Miller, as the team produced all five runs between the third and fourth innings.

Greenfield-Central returns to action today in its home opener against defending state champion Roncalli.

Greenfield-Central moves to 1-1

Greenfield-Central split a pair of contests with Southport on Saturday. The Cougars won the first game, 2-1, and lost the second, 4-1.

In the first game, freshman Sam Kihega was impressive in her varsity debut. She was 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI.

Michaela Ballman earned the win on the mound, allowing just three hits and no earned runs.

In the second game, Southport scored three runs in the seventh inning to run away with the win after a 1-1 tie.

Senior Morganne Denny and Ballman each finished with a hit in the loss, while senior Mikayla Durick took the loss on the mound.

Greenfield-Central will play again on Thursday at Connersville.
