Dullaghan, Judy named South All-Stars

A pair of Hancock County standouts were chosen to compete in the 51st Annual North-South Football All-Star game this summer.

Greenfield-Central’s Lee Dullaghan, the grandson of legendary Hall of Fame coach Dick Dullaghan, was selected as a tight end for the South All-Stars.

New Palestine’s David Judy was named as an offensive lineman for the South All-Stars. Judy is the sixth Dragon picked in four years for the annual showdown against the North All-Stars.

Youth baseball registration deadline today

The deadline to register for the Greenfield Youth Baseball Association is today. Registration is open to all youth ages 5 to 18. It is not necessary to be a Hancock County resident.

Basketball semistate schedules set

The IHSAA boys basketball state tournament has reached the final four. On Saturday, four semistate sites will determine this year’s eight championship finalists.

At Lafayette Jefferson, Class A Lafayette Central Catholic (21-6) will play Gary 21st Century (19-8) at 1 p.m., followed by 2A Frankton (21-6) vs. Marquette Catholic (19-9) at 3 p.m.

At Huntington North, 3A Fort Wayne Bishop Luers (19-7) faces Twin Lakes (24-3) at 4 p.m. In 4A, Fort Wayne North Side (26-2) plays Merrillville (21-7) at 6 p.m.

At Seymour, 3A Evansville Bosse (20-7) and Indianapolis Crispus Attucks (23-4) play at 1 p.m. Class 4A Castle (24-3) and Ben Davis take the court at 3 p.m.

At Richmond, Class A New Washington (20-9) plays Tindley (22-5) at 4 p.m. before 2A Crawford County (21-6) and Heritage Christian (17-9) tip-off at 6 p.m.

The state finals are March 25 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Dragons baseball cracks preseason rankings

The New Palestine Dragons were positioned seventh overall in the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association’s Class 3A Preseason Poll this month.

Northview was ranked first in 3A. Lanesville earned the top spot in Class A, while Providence was first in 2A. Carmel is preseason No. 1 in 4A with Fishers in second and Lake Central third.
