Richard L. Bravard Sr., 70, of Greenfield, passed away February 24, 2017, at IU University Hospital after a hard fight with pancreatic cancer. He was born on December 25, 1946, in Indianapolis, as the son of the late Charles L. Bravard Sr. and Ruth (Merlau) Bravard.
He graduated from New Palestine High School in 1965. He married Linda Kay (Young) Bravard on September 30, 1967 in Greenfield.
He worked for Ford Motor Company for 38 years before retiring in 2005. Richard was a proud union member and Past Financial Secretary of UAW Local 1111, and Past Financial Secretary of the Marion County UAW Cap-Council. He was also a member of Hancock Lodge #101 of F&AM, Greenfield York Rite, Valley of Indianapolis Scottish Rite, and Past Chapter Dad of Greenfield DeMolay.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Bravard of Greenfield; son, Rick (Angela) Bravard of Greenfield; daughter, Julie Bravard (Jywanza Maye) of Indianapolis; brothers, Charles (Susan) Bravard and Bill (Dorothy) Bravard; sister, Marijo (Ben) Carr; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and two grandchildren, Tripp Carter and Presley Rose Bravard.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday March 2, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A Masonic service will be held at 12:45 p.m., Thursday March 2, with a funeral service immediately following at 1 p.m. Pastor Paul Bravard will be officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery in Greenfield.
