GREENFIELD — Dozens of Hancock County residents gathered to celebrate the opening of the North Street Living Alley on Wednesday evening, toasting the project’s completion with hot chocolate and congratulations all around.

The North Street Living Alley, which features greenery, festival lighting and art, aims to draw people downtown and is open for events.

The project is part of the downtown revitalization plan city officials put into action after being awarded a state grant to transform the downtown alley area into a place for festivals, gatherings and more.

Greenfield was among 11 Hoosier cities to receive grant monies for community improvement projects.
