NEW PALESTINE — The Hancock County Public Library made its purchase of five acres in the 5800 block of U.S. 52 official recently by signing the closing papers.

In July, the board made public its intention to use $700,000 from its rainy day fund to purchase the land, which is less than a mile west of the Sugar Creek branch’s current location.

Library officials look forward to construction of a larger branch to alleviate some of its growing pains; a timeline for construction has not been set.
