Bicentennial committee seeks ideas from public

HANCOCK COUNTY — The Hancock County Bicentennial Committee encourages the public to attend informational sessions regarding the county’s bicentennial celebration this year, including a county-wide torch relay and celebration on Oct. 15.

Community members are invited to come out to hear about the plans underway for the county-wide torch relay and bicentennial celebration, to be held 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Hancock County Fairgrounds. The celebration will feature food, music and hands-on displays that celebrate our state and county’s heritage. Communities and organizations are asked to register for a free booth to illustrate their own unique history. Public input and volunteers are being sought to make this event a success. 

Meetings will be held at the following times: 

6:30 to 8 p.m. June 21, Hancock County Community Foundation, 312 E. Main St., Greenfield

6:30 to 8 p.m. July 13, New Palestine History Museum, 11 E. Main St., New Palestine
 
6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 17, Fortville-Vernon Township Public Library, 625 E. Broadway St., Fortville
 
6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 14, Hancock County Community Foundation, 312 E. Main St., Greenfield
