HANCOCK COUNTY — County officials recently approved the purchase of an X-ray machine and metal detector that will be installed in the Hancock County Courthouse.

The equipment, which cost about $21,000, was approved Tuesday by the Hancock County Board of Commissioners and will be installed in coming months.

Maj. Brad Burkhart, the county sheriff’s chief deputy, said the machines likely will be staffed by two officers. All visitors will have to pass through both machines before entering any of the courtrooms, Burkhart said.
