Jimmy D. Townsend, 59, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at Community Hospital North. He was born on Jan. 14, 1957, in Peru, as the son of Billy and Donna (Garsnett) Townsend.
Jimmy worked as a farmer for Matlock Farms for over 30 years. Most recently he worked for Mercer Excavating. His hobbies included, going to auctions, playing poker, gardening, and cutting firewood.
He is survived by his fiancé, Donna Finney of Greenfield; siblings, Opal (Buster) Hubble, Billy (Annette) Townsend, Brenda Townsend, Vicki (Daryl) Thomas, Bruce (Debbie) Townsend, and Kevin Townsend all of Greenfield; step-daughters, Sylvia (Ernie) Knight and Khrystal Finney and three grandchildren, Kyria, Karma and Jayden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Donna Townsend; sister, Debbie Metheny and first wife, Linda (Holiday) Townsend.
Visitation will be held from 4 to p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, also at the mortuary. Pat McDaniel will be officiating. Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
