Edna C. (Malone) Chestnut, 70, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at Springhurst Health Campus. She was born on Sept. 22, 1945, in Odon, Ind., as the daughter of Homer and Bertha (Arthur) Malone.
She graduated from Odon Madison Township High School in 1963. Edna married Frank E. Chestnut on May 16, 1964, in Odon, Ind.
She was the owner of Edna’s Corner in Charlottesville for many years. She also worked for W.B. Addison and Son Auctions and most currently worked in the office for World Renewal Ministries. Mrs. Chestnut was a very active member of Brandywine Community Church and Needles of Faith Ministry. She was the Secretary and Treasurer through the HOA of Autumn Place. Edna was a missionary and went to Brazil through World Renewal Ministries. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and making prayer blankets.
Edna is survived by her son, Rodney Chestnut of Greenfield; daughter, Stacey Fritz of Greenfield; brothers, Jim, Bob and Herschel; sisters, Ruthie, Opal, Grace and Barbie and five grandchildren, Kheely and Dusti Chestnut, Alyssa, Aaron and Alaina Fritz.
She was preceded in death by parents, Homer and Bertha (Arthur) Malone; husband, Frank Chestnut; brother, David and sister, Audrey.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Brandywine Community Church, 1551 East New Road, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 1p.m. Pastor Matt Wickham and Gary Wright will be officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
