Harold Eugene Schaekel, 82, of Fountaintown, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Greenfield. He was born on Nov. 17, 1932, in Arcadia, Ind., as the son of Fred and Estella (Leininger) Schaekel.
He graduated from Morristown High School in 1950. Harold married Lois L (Curry) in 1992.
He was a farmer and worked at Chrysler for many years. Mr. Schaekel was a member of Zion Lutheran in New Palestine and enjoyed bird watching and fishing.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Christine Tilley; step-son, Russell (Jessica) Read; brother, Floyd Schaekel; sister, Leona Fenimore and grandchildren, Stephanie Tilley and Ian Read.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Estella (Leiniger) Schaekel; wife, Lois Schaekel; several brothers and one sister.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Fountaintown Cemetery. Pastor Roger Holder will be officiating.
