Hospital foundation awards $41,000 in scholarships

GREENFIELD — The Hancock Regional Hospital Foundation recently awarded $41,000 in scholarships to 13 nursing and radiologic technology students who live and/or work in Hancock County.

The 2015 Edith Zike Nursing Scholarship recipients include Ashley Ponsler, Caitey Sosnowski, Carrie Goodwin, Margaret North, Mary Greenwalt, Matlin Wean-Ray, Michelle Hochstedler, Peyton Neisler and Sarah Rominger.

The foundation also selected Taylor Titus and Heather Wolfe for the 2015 John F. Stickford Nursing Scholarship. This scholarship will cover their entire tuition for the 2015-2016 school year. The scholarship is made possible through a gift from the estate of John F. Strickford. These scholarship recipients have each committed to working as a nurse in Hancock County or Shelby County for each year they receive this scholarship.

The HRH Foundation’s School of Radiologic Technology Scholarship is awarded to individuals enrolled in the hospital’s School of Radiologic Technology. This year’s recipients are Melissa Corley and Amy Burton; each will receive $1,000 toward tuition.

Since 1977, the foundation has awarded more than 185 scholarships totaling more than $250,000 to students in Hancock County.
