Mt. Vernon tennis advances to final
The Mt. Vernon girls tennis team defeated Lawrence North, 3-2, in the regional semifinal Tuesday.
Sarah Jones won the No. 3 singles match, 6-1, 6-1; Cassie York went to three sets in a No. 1 singles victory, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3; and the Marauders’ No. 1 doubles team of Kendra Eberhard/Brianna Partin clinched the semifinal win 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).
The Marauders improved to 17-3.
Mt. Vernon was scheduled to face No. 2-ranked Cathedral in the regional final Wednesday at North Central. A result wasn’t available at press deadline.
