Earl E. Hummel, 85, of New Castle, died Thursday, April 30, 2015. He was born March 11, 1930, in Kennard, Ind., to the late Homer and Marguerite (Wright) Hummel. He was a veteran of the Army and served during the Korean War in the First Armored Division, 47th Battalion.
Survivors include his wife, of 55 years, Miriam (Steigerwalt) Hummel whom he married June 27, 1959; three sons, James M. Hummel, John A. (Beth) Hummel of Sulphur Springs and Jeff (Karen) Hummel; 6 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Alice Hummel; 37 aunts and uncles.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, at the funeral home. Services will be held at 11a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Steve Arnett and Robert Wright officiating. Burial will be at South Mound Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by a contingent of the United States Army.
