Evelyn R. (Wright) Benefiel, 90, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Sugar Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing facility in Greenfield. She was born on Jan. 13, 1925, to Marshall and Mary C. (Scott) Wright in Owen Co., Indiana.
Evelyn graduated from Bloomington High School in 1943. She married Cecil E. Benefiel on Nov. 15, 1945. They had two sons, Robert Lee and Roger Dale.
She was a member of the Elnora Christian Church, Providence Mennonite Church, Elnora Eastern Star, Elnora Rebekah Lodge, and Odon VFW Auxiliary.
She was employed as a bank teller for many years at the 1st National Bank of Odon and the 1st National Bank of Sierra Vista, AZ.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Della) Benefiel of Greenfield; brother John (Imogene) Wright of Bloomington, Indiana; grandchildren Michael, Molly, and Kelly; great-grandson Austin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Mary C. (Scott) Wright; two sisters; husband Cecil E. Benefiel; and son Roger Dale Benefiel.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield, IN, 46140. A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Greene County Chapel Cemetery in Stanford, Indiana.
