Roger Lee Roberts Sr., 74, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 11, 2014, at his home. He was born June 13, 1939, in Elizabeth, Ill., to the late Wallie Fred and Marcella Mae (Blair) Roberts.
Roger was a 1957 graduate of Elizabeth High School. He was in the Army Reserve and a truck driver for 38 years prior to retirement from Perlman Rocque in 2007.
Roger was an active member of the New Palestine Lions Club, a diehard NASCAR fan, enjoyed Texas Hold’em, Euchre and Rummy. He always had a smile on his face and a quick-witted remark for every occasion. Roger never met a stranger in his life.
Roger is survived by his children, Diane Johnson, Michael Roberts, Kimberly Fischer, Melody (Tom) Norwood, Ken Roberts, Robin Roberts, Doug (Darlene) Roberts, Roger (Amber) Roberts; sister, Janet (Glenn) Luning and best friend, Vernon Spence; 18 grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Lynne (Myers) Roberts in 2010.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main, Greenfield, IN 46140. Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
