Eilene L. (Brant) Coffelt

Eilene L. (Brant) Coffelt, age 90, passed away July 3, 2013. She was the fourth of six children born to Charles A. and Eva E. (Baird) Brant on December 15, 1922, in Grant, Mich.

Eilene was a 1940 graduate of Ridge Farm High School, Ridge Farm, Ill.  On January 6, 1942, she married Ted Coffelt, the love of her life. They were happily married for 57 years. Together they owned and operated Ted’s Feed Store in Beech Grove. Ted and Eilene loved to travel the United States, taking their children to all 48 continental states. Upon retirement, they moved from their home in New Palestine, to Lehigh Acres, Fla. Eilene was a great cook who loved to entertain her family and friends. She strived to be first in all that she did. She earned Presidential Fitness Awards in golfing, swimming, and bicycling. Strong in her faith, she was an active member of the United Methodist Church, and a life member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 291. Eilene was a passionate volunteer who loved doing things for others. She led various church activities, Brownies and Cub Scouts. She was a cancer survivor and worked to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Surviving her are her children, son, Dr. Terry (Shirley) Coffelt of Chandler, Ariz. and daughter Mary Ann (Mark) Holzhausen of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Jeni (Jason) Northouse, Steve (Mandy) Holzhausen of Indianapolis, Charlie (Glenda) Coffelt of Plainfield, and Dr. Tom Coffelt of Indianapolis; sisters, Dorothy (Bob) Henline of Vista, Calif., and JoAnn Boose of Georgetown, Ill.; sister-in-law, Clara Coffelt of South Bend; and six great-grandchildren, Caleb and Emma Holzhausen and Nick, Zach, Will and Luke Coffelt.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brother, Charles Brant, Jr.; sisters, Ella Lewis and Jean Pope; three nieces; and two nephews.

Friends may call from 10 – 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, with funeral services immediately following at 11 a.m. at Hendryx Mortuary, Cumberland Chapel. Private burial services will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, Ridge Farm, Ill.
