Thomas E. Cloyd

Thomas E. Cloyd, 69, Fortville, passed away March 29, 2013. Born on March 3, 1944, in Beech Grove, he was the son of Norman Henry and Nellie Helen Strahl Cloyd.

Thomas graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in 1962, and married Beverly K. Riley on July 11, 1965. He completed an apprenticeship at New York Central Railroad and worked there until 1971. He then worked at Navistar as a millwright for 36 years, before retiring on Sept. 28, 2007.  Thomas was a member of the Hoosier Allegros Camping Club, the Hoosier Campers #1, and the UAW Local #226 in Indianapolis. He loved traveling, camping, boating, and woodworking.

Surviving him are his wife, Beverly K. Cloyd of Fortville; sons, Stephen T. (Lisa) Cloyd of Greenfield, David M. (Julie) Cloyd of Warrenton, Mo., and Kevin S. (Amber) Cloyd of Dover, Del.; brother, Jerry L. (Jackie) Cloyd of Kokomo; and 5 grandchildren, Nicole M. Cloyd, Sara E. Cloyd, Samual H. Cloyd, Maxwell R. Cloyd, and Jayden O. Cloyd.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and infant sister, Donna J. Cloyd.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2013,  at the mortuary. Pastor Paul Enyart will be officiating.
