Claude M. Scott, 97, of McCordsville, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 29, 1915, in Hancock County to Benjamin Franklin and Julia Ann (Wiegelt) Scott-Smith.

Claude was a very loving and proud father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather, accepting his wife Jessie’s children as his own. He was a very active farmer as well as a plumber for 12 years. He was a 50-year Past Master of Eden Masonic Lodge & O.E.S.; longtime member of McCordsville United Methodist Church, later attending Eden United Methodist Church. He was an avid gardener, traveler, fisherman, hunter and a good friend and helper to all.

He is survived by his wife, Jessamine (“Jessie”) (Turner) Scott, whom he married on Dec. 20, 2003; sons,  Bruce (Susie), Dennis (Jo), Lloyd (Carolyn) and Wayne (Lisa); grandchildren,  Robin (Robbie) Dukes, Debbie (John) Houts, Lori (Sean) Hodge, Shelly (Vic) Coleman, Norman Jr., Brad, Jason (Terri), Robert, and Amanda (Jeff) Parker; great-grandchildren,  Amber, Scott, Stephanie, Toni, Tori, Cassie (Jeramy), Alex, Caitlyn, Erin, Nathan, Samuel, Jordan, Olivia, C.J., Alexis, Trenton, Audrey (Billie), Jacob and Cameron; and great-great-grandchildren, Jaylyn, Braylyn, Ruby Jane, Zoie, Oliver, Evelyn, Scotty, Harper and Maizy; stepchildren, Charlie (Joann)Turner, Bobby, (Melinda) Turner, and Jack (Mary Iva) Jones;  stepgrandchildren, Greg, Jessica, Tim, Dalton, Cory, Jeremy, Heather, and Sara; and stepgreat -grandchild, Bentley.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, of 62 years, Martha L. Vail; his parents; stepfather, Ed Smith; and daughter-in-law, Joyce Scott.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at McCordsville United Methodist Church.  A Celebration of Claude’s Life will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday March 20, 2013, at the church. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the McCordsville United Methodist Church Building Fund or to Eden United Methodist Church.
