Jamie Calhoun Schalk-Browning, 67, Gibson City, Ill., formerly of Indianapolis, and Decatur, Ill., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City, Ill. Jamie was born Dec. 21, 1945, in Chicago, a daughter of Ralph B. and Patricia Calhoun Skinner.

A woman of faith and the heart and strength of her family, Jamie shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. Jamie loved Jesus and was ready to meet Him. Her signature gift of compassion towards others will never be forgotten. Jamie will be in our hearts forever. We were blessed to have her in our lives. We take comfort from the knowledge that we will be reunited with her in Heaven.

She worked as an X-ray technician and later as an electronics technician at Naval Avionics (Raytheon) before retiring. Jamie married Edward A. Browning on April 12, 1991, in Indianapolis. She loved him dearly. He survives her.

She also leaves behind to cherish her memories, her beloved children Lisa Schalk, Carmi, Ill.; Jeff (Angie) Schalk, Fountaintown, Ind.;  James (Tina) Schalk, New Palestine; Stephen (Nikki) Browning, Indianapolis; and Scott (Angel) Browning, Milwaukee, Wis.; her devoted mother, Patricia Flesher, formerly of Decatur, Ill., presently of Naperville, Ill.; her loving siblings, Ann (Allan) Griffith, Bloomington, Ill., William (Karen) Flesher, Monticello, Ill., and Cathy (Dan) Bargerstock, Naperville, Ill.; eight dearly-loved grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Ralph Skinner; and her stepfather Burns Flesher.

Visitation will be from Noon- 2 p.m., on Saturday at Lamb Funeral Home, 303 N. Church St., Gibson City, IL. The memorial service will begin at 2 p.m., immediately following the visitation, with the Rev. Jerry Parmley officiating.

The family deeply appreciates the care and support given by the staff of Gibson Area Hospital during Jamie's final days.
