Mary L. “Toots” (Williams) Buchanan, age 87, Morristown, died Dec. 31, 2011, at Hancock Regional Hospital. Born on June 18, 1924 in Shelby County, she was the daughter of James and Allie (Kidd) Williams.

Mary graduated from Morristown High School in 1942. She worked as an executive secretary for Conseco Insurance for many years. She was a member of the Morristown Christian Church, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and was a decedent of George Slater II, who fought in the Revolutionary War.

Surviving her are her daughter; Laura (Keith) Rodebeck of New Palestine; grandchildren; Karli and Kyle Rodebeck of New Palestine; sister-in-law, Virginia Williams of Morristown; and nephews, Terry and James Toon of Franklin.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Sherman Williams, Noble Williams; sisters, Mae Eades, Edna Toon Moore; niece, Jackie Johnson; nephew, Richard Toon; half-sisters, Estel (Kenton) Myers, Verda (Williams) Wagner; and half-brothers, Edgar Kenton, Albert Kenton, and Clancy Williams.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Morristown Christian Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m., also at the church. Pastor James Coyle, Pastor Fred Hickman, and brother Bill Farmer will be officiating. A private burial will take place at Asbury Cemetery at a later date.
