Merle H. Tiede, 95, Greenfield, formerly of Indianapolis and Martinsville, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at his residence. He was born June 4, 1915, in Francesville, Ind., to the late William C. and Ruth (Burson) Tiede.
He leaves behind sons, Joel A. (Karen) Tiede of Greenfield, and Jeremy M. (Martha) Tiede of Appleton, Wis.; daughter, Marianne (Donald) Jaynes of Greenfield; sisters, Mary Falvo of Calumet City, Ill., and Shirley DeWees of Rensselaer; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Heather) and Nathan (Hope) Jaynes, Samuel, Annan, Tara, Rachel and Jason Tiede; and two great-grandchildren, Lyla and Luke Jaynes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve M. (Guentert) Tiede; son, Jon Christopher Tiede; sisters, Jean Schafer, Madge Dewees, Betty Barnhart and Marquriette "Sis" Bridges Hass; and brothers, Ronald, Donald, Robert, Claude, Fred, Billy and Lewis Tiede.
Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center. Burial will follow at St. Martin Cemetery, Martinsville.
