James D. Butler Sr., 68 of Greenfield, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after a brief illness. He was born July 31, 1942, in Indianapolis, a son of the late Clarence Eugene and Catherine (Carter) Butler.
Survivors include his wife, Emma M. (Sater) Butler of Greenfield; children, James D. Butler Jr. of Greenfield, Katherine White of Martinsville, Elizabeth (Pastor Kent) Gray of Indianapolis, John E. Butler of Greenfield, Brian (Rhonda) Butler of Bicknell; 29 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Ann Mink of Roachdale and Cathy Rodriguez of Greenfield; brothers, John Butler Sr. of Greenfield and Larry Butler of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joshua C. Butler; and a nephew.
Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at Antioch the Apostolic Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at the church, with Pastor Kent Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel.
