Robert Alfred Mearling, age 93, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021. He was born in Indianapolis on January 20, 1928 to Esther (Merlau) Mearling and Alfred Mearling. He graduated from Warren Central High School in 1946 and attended Indiana Business College. He was a veteran of the United States Army. On July 2, 1948, Robert married Beverly Redmon in Indianapolis.
He worked for Western Electric in accounting for 35 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Greenfield.
Robert is survived by his children, Stephen Mearling (Marilynn) of Evansville, Linda Baker (James) of Greenfield, and Kathy Trautmann (David) of Greenfield; grandchildren, Brian (Ami), Kevin (Jennifer), Emily, Scott (Hannah), Natalie and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Dax, Benjamin, and Jaycie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Mearling; parents, Alfred and Esther; and stepfather, Walter Schakel.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 200 W McKenzie Rd, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor William O’Connor officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield.
