GREENFIELD — It’s fall y’all, which means it’s pumpkin-picking time once again at Hancock County’s favorite farm attractions.
At Lark Ranch in Greenfield, owner Matt Lark said visitors come from as far as 80 miles away to celebrate seasonal traditions at the farm, 1611 N. Meridian Road.
“A lot of people come to ride the train,” said Lark, who provides visitors with a mile-long ride on the Lark Ranch Railroad, aboard miniature passenger cars pulled by a one-third scale locomotive.
That’s just one of the attractions. The cost of admission also includes amusement rides and a jumping pillow, a kid-sized zipline, an animal farm, hayrides, and the chance to pick your own pumpkins.
“We call it the ultimate fall experience,” said Lark, who also manages a Lark Ranch location in Loogootee, which opened in 2002, and a zip line park in Fort Wayne that opened in 2012.
The Greenfield ranch opened Sept. 25, and will be open Saturdays and Sundays through October. It is just one of several agri-tourism attractions in the county whose business is ramping up for the fall.
