Community foundation to mark county’s birthday

HANCOCK COUNTY — An arm of the Hancock County Community Foundation is celebrating the county’s 191st birthday later this month with visits to local schools.

The Hancock County Community Foundation Y-GIVE (Youth Giving, Investing and Engaging) Board is the foundation’s youth ambassadors for philanthropy. Y-GIVE’s mission is to provide opportunities for students to grow in their appreciation of Hancock County and to strengthen the desire to enhance the community’s future through giving and service.

At the end of April, the Y-GIVE Board will celebrate Hancock County’s 191st birthday by visiting all of the Hancock County schools and engaging students in learning activities such as trivia, coloring pages, informational articles and other activities relevant to Hancock County and its history. In addition, all Hancock County teachers will receive gifts to celebrate Hancock County all year long, and Hancock County flags have been provided to every school.
