GREENFIELD
John Leary, 72, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017, in Greenfield surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 23, 1944, in Shelbyville, Indiana, to the late Joseph Leary & Pauline (Whitaker Leary) Pope.
John graduated from Greenfield High School. He was a lifelong carpenter. He enjoyed racing, golfing, hunting and riding his Harley.
John is survived by daughter, Lee Ann (Dave) Maxam of Jacksonville, Florida; Audra (Roy) Phelps of Greenfield; sister, Paula (Melvin) Grose of Port Ritchie, Florida; the mother of his children, Joy Clifton Leary of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren; Carson Maxam, Jonathon (Heather) Hatcher, Alexa and Riley Phelps and great grandchildren; Ella and Jasper Hatcher.
Preceding John in death are his daughter, Jonna (Greg) Hatcher; his parents listed above, his brother, Karl (Leda) Leary, and his sister, Elsie (Tom) Blanchard.
A celebration of life will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, September 29, 2017, at Hawk’s Tail of Greenfield 145 South Morristown Pike, Greenfield, IN 46140. (317) 462-2706.
