Costume contest added to upcoming silent film event

GREENFIELD — The silent film “Little Orphant Annie” shows at 4 p.m. April 29 at the H. J. Ricks Centre for the Arts, 122 W. Main St. Included in the $15 ticket price is a costume contest open to all ages, male and female. Those who plan to participate should come dressed as their version of Little Orphant Annie. Clogging group takes registration for summer

NEW PALESTINE — Hearts Ablaze offers a beginner clogging class for ages 13 to adult from 7 to 8 p.m. beginning this week. The cost for the eight-week class is $60. No shoes or experience necessary. Email [email protected] for more information.

MVHS offers summer film and animation workshop

FORTVILLE — Mt. Vernon High School is offering summer workshops in film making and animation for students age 10 through 14. Participants learn the basics of computer modeling, texturing, lighting and animation using Maya and 3ds Max. 3D scanning and digital audio production are introduced. Students also learn how to record and edit video in a working TV studio. New technology for this summer’s workshop is a digital sculpting station and a Phantom 4 drone that records 4K video. Ballet company seeks dancers for next season

GREENFIELD — Dance East Ballet Academy will hold auditions from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 22 at the studio at 28 N. East St. The 2017-18 dance season includes the holiday ballet “Little Things” and the spring ballet “Carnival of the Animals.” Auditions are open to prospective and current dancers ages 6 and up. Youth talent show seeks participants ages 9-18

GREENFIELD — Registration is now open for the Hancock County Youth Talent Show. Performers will compete in two age brackets: 9 to 13 and 14 to 18. A winner will be selected from each group. Participation is limited to 12 acts for each age category. The show is hosted by 2016 Riley Festival Queen Rylie Gendron as a give-back-to-the-community event. All proceeds from the event go to benefit KidsPlay Inc. children’s theater. The deadline to submit a registration form and a YouTube audition video is May 1. Common Threads quilters to meet in Mt. Comfort

GREENFIELD — Common Threads Quilt Guild of Central Indiana, Inc. will meet from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church, 3179 N. County Road 600W. Guests are welcome. The program includes Carol Henke’s presentation of her “Trunk Show of Unique Quilts.”

School theatre offers Broadway Kids Camp

FORTVILLE — The Mt. Vernon High School Theatre Department will offer a Broadway Kids Camp June 26 through 30 at the school, 8112 N. County Road 200W. The “Lion King” themed camp is open to ages 6 through 14 and features vocal music, drumming, choreography, acting through storytelling and character development.
