Sixth property deemed shovel-ready

GREENFIELD — A 62-acre plot of land in Greenfield was recently certified by state officials as ready for economic development.

The plot of land, located on East County Road 200W just west of Franklin Street in Greenfield, was certified by Indiana’s Office of Community and Rural Affairs as shovel-ready.

A shovel-ready designation makes land parcels more attractive to business owners who are looking to buy land because it streamlines the building process as the land has already been properly inspected and laid out, officials said.

In order to be declared shovel-ready, land must have received local government-level support for development, officials said. The land must also have an established price and a clear title and survey.

The property certified recently, nicknamed Barr South, is the sixth location in Greenfield to be recognized by the state. It is immediately adjacent to another certified property, nicknamed Barr North, which was also highlighted as shovel-ready by the state earlier this year.

“The State of Indiana and OCRA created this program to partner with communities who are working to further opportunities for attracting businesses to grow their local economies,” said OCRA Executive Director Bill Konyha. “This is the sixth site in Greenfield to be Indiana Site Certified, which goes to show just how dedicated they are to economic development.”

Local dealership called one of the nation’s best

GREENFIELD — Mount Comfort RV, located on Mount Comfort Road near Interstate 70, was recently named one of the top 50 best dealerships by RV Business Magazine.

The publication asked recreational vehicle manufacturers to nominate dealers across the United States and Canada who exemplify best practices and excellence in their field, according to a news release. Nominees were then invited to fill out comprehensive applications, and the applications were reviewed by an independent panel of industry experts who made the final selections.

In addition to being named a top 50 honoree, Mount Comfort RV was designated by the judges as one of five exceptional dealers to be given a Blue Ribbon, officials said.

“We work very hard to give our customers the best overall experience we can deliver, and these awards acknowledge that we’ve achieved that at a level equal to the best in the country,” said Ken Eckstein, owner of Mount Comfort RV. “I really wondered how a small start-up, from Greenfield could even be in the same room with these guys. I feel that any award is only as relevant as the competition for that award, and these guys were the best of the best.”
