SHIRLEY — The speed limit in Shirley will soon be 25 miles per hour in town limits.

Though the town already has an ordinance setting the speed limit at that rate, some posted signs do not match the ordinance. The Shirley Town Council voted unanimously to approve a request to purchase new speed limit signs and posts at a cost of $6,000. The money will come from the Motor Vehicle Highway Fund, said Shirley clerk treasurer Teresa Hester.
