Lauretta Grace Wagner, 79, of Greenfield, went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on Jan. 19, 2013. She was born on May 12, 1933, to Richard and Laura Steffen in Wausau, Wis. Lauretta married her lifetime love and partner Gordon “Gordy” Wagner on May 28, 1956.

Lauretta was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. As a military wife, serving on the “home front”, she proudly and lovingly managed households in Germany, Wis., Ala., Kan., Ga., Ariz., Calif., N.C., Wash., Ill., and Ind., while Gordy served as a U.S. Army officer. Besides caring for her family, she enjoyed crocheting, creating ceramics, and gifting many with her beautifully constructed items. She also enjoyed reading, bowling, jigsaw puzzles and playing games, especially with family.

Lauretta is survived by husband, Gordy; brother, David and his wife Audrey; her beloved children, Jim and wife Jeri, John and wife Liz, Joni and husband Joel Stackman and Tom and wife Dawn; grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Jim) Wagner-Hernann, JoAnna (Jim), Jonathan (Jim), Heather (John) Meyer, Angie (John) Wagner-Gilbert, Jordan (John), Brian (John), Christopher (Joni), Neil (Joni), and Rachel (Joni), Eileen (Tom), Gordon (Tom), Caleb (Tom); and great-grandchildren, Amedeus, Ezra, Madison, June, and Archer.

Lauretta was preceeded in death by her brothers, Dick, Melvin, and Gerald; and her sisters, Delphine and Dolores.

A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary, Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, in Greenfield with Father William Stumpf officiating. Visitation will follow until 6 p.m. at the mortuary. Lauretta’s final resting place will be in Marathon, Wisc. The burial services will be held at a future date to be determined.
