New Palestine grad promoted to colonel

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Lt. Col. Christopher A. Wodarz, son of Dietrich and Regina Wodarz of Greenfield, was promoted to colonel in a ceremony held at the Army Medical Department Museum in San Antonio, Texas on July 23, 2015.

Wodarz is a 1985 graduate of New Palestine High School. Wodarz is assigned as the assistant chief of staff, resource management, for the Southern Regional Medical Command, in San Antonio,Texas.

Col. Micheal Hershman, along with Wodarz’s wife, Kimberley, pinned the silver eagle insignia on Wodarz’s uniform. His, daughter, Amber, and son, Austin, observed along with numerous family members, friends and fellow soldiers.

Wodarz enlisted on April 21, 1987, as a combat medic at the 337th General Hospital at Fort Benjamin Harrison. He served as an enlisted soldier while attending college until May 1992. Upon receiving his commission from the Reserve Officer Training Corps at Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio, Wodarz served as a medical service corps officer in various command and staff assignments within the Army Medical Department. Most recently, Wodarz served as the assistant chief of staff, resource management for Pacific Regional Medical Command-Hawaii, where he served as the chief financial officer.
