Drama group to perform at New Hope
STRINGTOWN — New Hope Church of the Nazarene will play host to the Covenant Players drama group at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Since 1963, Covenant Players has pioneered the use of drama as a communications resource in the church. Units of Covenant Players travel throughout the world communicating the Gospel in churches of all denominations.
The performance is part of a four-week series as New Hope celebrates its 100th anniversary.
Car show planned to celebrate Labor Day

Bible study forming at Mt. Comfort
MT. COMFORT — A new Bible study will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday and will be offered again at 7 p.m. the same day at Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church, 3179 N. County Road 600W. It will meet on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month.
The study leader will be the Rev. Steve Ellis, who returns to Hancock County as a retired United Methodist pastor after serving churches throughout Indiana for more than 25 years.
Both sessions will study the book of Acts. Study content will be identical for the morning and evening sessions on each meeting day.

Consultant to offer workshop for leaders
GREENFIELD — Church Doctor Ministries, an international coaching, consulting and teaching ministry based in Corunna, will present a workshop for area pastors, ministry leaders and interested church members from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 22 at St. James Lutheran Church, 1741 S. State St.
“True transformational change in a church is a spiritual process,” said Tracee Swank, leader of Church Doctor Ministries. “When members, leaders, staff and ministry experience spiritual change and growth, the church will reach more people for Christ and make a greater impact.”
This workshop will be facilitated by Swank and Kent R. Hunter. Swank is leader of Church Doctor Ministries and a certified church consultant and Christian leadership coach. Hunter, known as the “Church Doctor,” has advised more than 1,400 churches from 65 denominations, fellowships and movements.
Participants will learn answers to questions including:
How can I maximize people for outreach without spending a dime of my church budget?
Is my church reaching its potential for making disciples?
How can I train others in my church to share their faith, even with those they already know?
If Jesus was our senior pastor, what would change in my church?
According to Jesus, what is the main responsibility, job No. 1, of a pastor?
Why is Islam outpacing Christianity for the first time in history?

After-school program to begin
MT. COMFORT — SonShine Kids, an after-school enrichment program serving students in kindergarten through fifth grade, begins Thursday. This free program meets from 2:15 to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays when school is in session at Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church, 3179 N. County Road 600W. It offers homework assistance, arts and crafts, music, drama, nature, exercise and snacks.
Registration forms are available through students’ home room teachers at Mt. Comfort Elementary School and at the church. Enrollment is limited to maintain a quality program.
