Cougars Wrestling Club season opening soon
The Greenfield-Central Cougars Wrestling Club will start their elementary wrestling season Jan. 4. Sign-ups will be that day at 6 p.m. just outside the doors of the wrestling room in the Greenfield-Central High School fieldhouse.
Practices will be conducted Mondays and Wednesdays through January and February from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. On the first three Thursdays of February, the Cougar Wrestling Club will host friendship tournaments inside the fieldhouse at 6:30 p.m. Cost for the season is $70 per wrestler.

Greenfield-Central girls will host food drive
The Greenfield-Central girls basketball team will be collecting non-perishable items for the Hancock County Food Pantry during their home game against Shelbyville tonight.
Patrons can get $1 off for each item donated up to $2 per person for Grades 1 and up. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Area players recognized by The Associated Press
The Associated Press released their 2015 Indiana High School Football All-State Teams last week. Among the honorees a total of 13 players from Hancock County were recognized.
New Palestine’s Alex Neligh, who was second in voting for the 2015 Indiana Mr. Football award, was named Class 5A First Team All-State at quarterback. He was joined by senior offensive lineman Andrew Yazel. Nick Brickens was selected First Team All-State as a defensive back.
Dragons wide receiver Duke Blackwell, offensive lineman Nick Derheimer, kicker Spencer Corey, defensive lineman Jordan Workman, and linebacker Joe Izbicki were all named AP All-State honorable mention.
Eastern Hancock was awarded with five honorable mentions.
Senior Matt Bowman was selected at running back along with junior Devin Denny. Senior Austin Smith was awarded with an honorable mention nod at wide receiver.
Royals’ Adam Campbell was named honorable mention as a defensive lineman and Clayton Brumfield was picked as a defensive back.

Morristown resident rolls perfect game
Jeremie Keithley joined an elite fraternity when he bowled a perfect 300-game on Dec. 10 at Strike Force Lanes. The Morristown resident rolled the game while competing in the Thursday Thunder League.
