HANCOCK COUNTY — The Daily Reporter, with the help of community partners, has compiled a guide of helpful resources to assist those impacted by the restrictions brought on by the efforts to reduce exposure to COVID-19. WELLNESS

Hancock Regional Hospital

Social services is available in the hospital from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, for those who need emotional support or resources. Information: 317-468-4532.

Hancock Health Foundation

The Hancock Health Foundation is accepting donations of medical supplies, including: disposable latex, nitrile, and latex-free gloves; any type, any size of unused masks; regular or disposable hospital-grade gowns and/or bunny suits; clear plastic safety goggles; shoe covers; bleach wipes; paper towels and hand sanitizer.

Healthy365

Healthy365 is working to support the community in three ways:

1. Transportation to/from medical appointments, labs, pharmacy. These will be assessed on an individual basis, and the service is not guaranteed.

2. Food: Delivery of non-perishable food items in partnership with Hancock County Food Pantry. Healthy365 also connect with other food resources as needed. Service will be assessed on individual basis and is not guaranteed

3. Emotional support/community resources: A support navigator is available. Information: 317-468-4231 or email [email protected]

Community Behavioral Health

The offices have converted to a virtual model for both individual and group therapy. Information/questions: [email protected]

Wellspring Center

The Wellspring mental health and wellness center, located in Brandywine Community Church, is a connecting place for those in need of whole health renewal. Wellspring coaches will help individuals find their next steps plan for physical, mental, relational and spiritual recovery. Groups and classes are being held virtually and support staff are available by phone. Information is available by calling 317-462-2015 or by visiting www.wellspringind.org.

Hancock County Health Department

The health department is closed to the public but can send birth certificates and death certificates by mail. Information: 317-477-1125.

Healthy Families

Healthy Families is now providing services through virtual assessments and visits. With increased stress comes an increase in child maltreatment. As high-risk families are stressing about an upcoming delivery or handling a newborn amidst worries about finances, food and their future, Healthy Families continues to provide resources. National Alliance on Mental Illness

To reach the NAMI Helpline, text NAMI to 741741. Crisis text Line is open 24/7 to connect with a trained crisis counselor to receive free crisis support via text message.

FOOD

Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen

Food pick-up is at the east front door. Please line up in front of the soup kitchen building only without blocking the doors of other businesses. Visit the pantry, at 202 E. Main St. in Greenfield, during pick-up hours: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Open to all at no cost; free-will offerings accepted. Information: 317-462-9900 or kbmsk.org.

Hancock County Food Pantry

A drive-through food pick-up model is now in place so that families can stay in their vehicles and receive food at the food pantry, at 741½ S. State St. in Greenfield. Stop by during pickup hours, from 1-2:30 p.m. and 5:30-6:30pm Mondays; 9-10:30 a.m. and 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays; and 7-8 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays. SOCIAL SERVICES

Alternatives Inc.

Alternatives Incorporated strives to eradicate domestic and sexual violence through education, prevention, and intervention in Central Indiana. Emergency shelter services are still being provided, though some other services have moved to virtual appointments. The crisis hotline at 866-593-9999 is available 24/7.

Division of Family Resources — Hancock County

The office is closed, but clients can still call and submit applications over the phone. Visit in.gov/fssa.

Family and Social Services Administration

The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration has developed a statewide interactive map to help Hoosiers seeking food assistance find what they need. There are two types of organizations shown on the map: food pantries and meal sites. Food pantries are locations where Hoosiers can pick up groceries to prepare and use at their homes. Meal sites serve packed meals, ready to take home and eat. FSSA has encouraged food pantries to keep serving Hoosiers and issued a call for volunteers under age 60 who are able to serve. FSSA is actively working with food pantries, food banks and community kitchens across the state to track which are open and is updating the map accordingly. Information: fssa.in.gov

First Steps in Hancock County

First Steps is conducting virtual therapy sessions and phone meetings. The agency is still taking new referrals but will complete the meetings over the phone or virtually. Families may also choose to put therapy on hold. Information: www.firststepssoutheast.org

Hancock County Division of Family Resources

Hancock County Senior Services

Transportation and home care services have been suspended until further notice. The AARP TAX-Aide program has also been suspended indefinitely due to the Coronavirus outbreak. All appointments are cancelled until further notice. Information: 317-462-3758 or hcssi.org

Hancock County WIC (Women, Infant, Children)

All WIC appointments in Hancock County will be completed remotely by phone until further notice. Staff will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday by calling 317-462-3552. WIC provides food supplements and nutritional education to women who are pregnant, post-partum or breastfeeding, and to infants and children up to age 5. Applicants must meet income guidelines.

ICAP (Interlocal Community Action Program)

ICAP provides financial assistance with rent, utility bills and child care, and assists with senior employment. All clients and persons needing services need to contact their local county office to determine if assistance can be provided without making an appointment. Hancock County’s office is being staffed by Stephanie Gustin on a limited basis, with calls accepted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Life Choices Care Center

A staff member at the center will answer the phones on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays from 11-5 with the ability to provide case-by-case assistance. For counseling about pregnancy, women will be asked some basic health questions before they can be seen. For material assistance with formula, diapers and clothing, staff will gather information over the phone and bring these items out to the client’s car. Information: 317-467-9700

Love INC

Love INC is a social services support clearinghouse that connects those in need with food and toiletry supplies, employment assistance, financial assistance and spiritual support. Information: 317– 468-6300

Women’s Resource Center

The center is closed, but Beth Ingle, the director, is available at 317-477-1959 or hcwrc.org.

Those who are confronting crisis may call the toll-free Lifeline to speak with a trained crisis counselor 24/7 at 800-273-TALK (8255).

United Way of Central Indiana

United Way can help connect people with food and clothing, mental health and addiction services, health care services, housing and utility assistance, education and employment services, children and family services, tax assistance, legal assistance, and refuge from domestic violence.
