Why are you the best candidate for this position?

I have served on the council for the past four years, which has provided me the ability to gain experience and knowledge. During that time, the town has experienced tremendous positive and responsible growth. I have served on the police commission for two years and am currently on the redevelopment commission. I have always listened and reached out. I have worked hard toward transparency on all issues concerning the town and making myself available to anyone. Being on the council is not only an honor, but a challenge. I have always dedicated myself to being honest and working hard.

What is the most pressing issue facing Fortville?

Managing responsible growth.

What is your stance on the changes proposed for Main Street?

I’m in favor of the changes that will be occurring. To gain the sidewalks is much needed, and no one can truly argue that. Having the bump-outs is an added feature that will provide pedestrians a safer passage and better access for the handicapped to cross the street. Having the parking angle changed will provide a safer exit from the parking spot while backing out. Slowing the traffic is a safe and positive action to take.

How does the town responsibly manage the rapid growth it’s experiencing?

To manage the rapid growth, you need planning. Planning on future housing by setting planned unit development standards. Design and regulations on commercial building. Planning future traffic growth. Planning for the parks and what will be the best usage for them. Planning for public safety while working with the police department. Planning and working with the Vernon Township trustee on fire protection needed for the growth to come. Planning for the updating on the usage of sewer and water for the future growth.
