St. Thomas offers meatless meals

FORTVILLE — St. Thomas is serving meatless meals from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Fridays of Lent in the parish activity center.

Remaining menus will be:

March 29 — Fried fish, chili cheese etouffee and rice

April 5 — Fried fish, macaroni and cheese and lasagna

April 7 — Tuna salad on croissants, baked pasta and egg salad

Meals include assorted vegetables, salad, desserts and drink.

A free-will offering is taken for all meals but the fish fries.

Fish fry meals cost $7 each.

Dinner to help family after fire

NEW PALESTINE — A dinner to benefit the Spurling family, following a Feb. 8 house fire at their home, is set for 5 p.m. March 30 at New Palestine United Church, 15 E. Main St. (U.S. 52).

The Stoner Sisters, Dennis Carnes and Nina Dean will sing starting at 6.

Donations will be accepted at the dinner.

Game Night is March 30

GREENFIELD — Faith United Methodist Church will have Game Night from 3 to 7 p.m. March 30 at the church, 328 N. Swope St. Finger foods will be served.

Baked potato bar to aid youth trip

NEW PALESTINE — Youth at New Palestine United Methodist Church will have a baked potato bar fundraiser from 5 to 6:30 p.m. (or until potatoes run out) April 18 at the church, 3565 S. County Road 500W.

All proceeds benefit the Rooted youth group’s activities and mission trip.

A Maundy Thursday service follows at 7 p.m.

Simulcast features Priscilla Shirer

NEW PALESTINE — Community Christian Church will show the Going Beyond Simulcast with Priscilla Shirer from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. April 6 at the church, 3123 S. County Road 500W.

Along with Priscilla Shirer, a well-known Bible teacher, Christian recording artist Anthony Evans will lead worship via simulcast.

Presented by the Nashville-based publishing company LifeWay Christian Resources, the simulcast brings women together from all walks of life across the globe in their churches or homes for a day of biblical teaching, prayer, and worship.

Cost is $20. A prepared lunch is available for $10, or you can do lunch on your own.

Lenten series offers soup, programs

FORTVILLE — Fortville United Methodist Church offers a Lenten soup series that began March 13 with a hymn sing and continues through April 3.

The gathering runs from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays in the fellowship hall of the church, 125 E. Staat St.

Each week also includes music or a guest speaker. Remaining sessions are:

A series of Lenten services continues Sunday, with locations rotating among a cluster of local United Methodist churches.

-6:30 p.m. Sunday (March 24): Charlottesville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Steve Brackney preaching

-6:30 p.m. March 31: Morristown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Marianne Nichols preaching

-6:30 p.m. April 7: Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Chris Dourson preaching

-6:30 p.m. April 14: Liberty United Methodist Church, a Palm Sunday service of music featuring the Cluster Cantata Choir, directed by Gloria Thomas

-6:30 p.m. April 18: Maundy Thursday service with Communion at Carrollton United Methodist Church, with a pitch-in dinner afterward

-6:30 p.m. April 19: Good Friday service at Morristown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Steve Brackney preaching

Easter concert is April 14

NEW PALESTINE — An Easter concert is set for 6:30 p.m. April 14 at New Palestine United Methodist Church, 3565 S. County Road 500W (Gem Road).

Lenten study looks at disciple Peter

GREENFIELD — Trinity Park United Methodist Church offers a Lenten study series on Simon Peter at 10 a.m. Wednesdays at the church, 207 W. Park Ave.

Lenten series has courtroom theme

GREENFIELD — St. James Lutheran Church will have Lenten meals and services on March 27, April 3 and April 10.

The meal begins at 6 p.m., followed by the service at 7 at the church, 1741 S. State St.

The church’s series for Lent is “Convicted” and steps into the courtroom each week. Each service puts a different biblical person from the story of Christ’s passion and death on trial, accused of an actual crime.

Spud Supper to aid mission projects

GREENFIELD — Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church at 3447 South State Road 9, Greenfield, will have its annual Spud Supper from 4 to 6:30 p.m. March 30. Several potato toppings, salads, hot dogs, desserts, and drinks will be available. Carry-out is an option. A free-will offering will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit mission and special projects.

Good Friday service set in Shirley

SHIRLEY — Community Ministerial Alliance, a group of Shirley-area churches, will have a community Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. April 19 at Grant City Wesleyan Church, 4411 S. Grant City Road, Shirley.
