HANCOCK COUNTY — Hancock County Public Library hosts a variety of educational and entertaining programs at its two county locations. Take a look at the offerings in the near future:

Blood drive

Honor Veteran’s Day this year by donating blood Saturday, November 10, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., at the Hancock County Public Library in Greenfield, 900 W. McKenzie Road. Look for the Indiana Blood Center’s bus on the library parking lot.

In order to give blood, individuals must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in “good” general health. Be sure to bring a photo ID. It is normally safe to donate whole blood every 56 days.

Donors are welcome to drop in, but IBC can plan for staffing and supplies when appointments are made ahead of time at +1 (800) 632-4722, press 4.

Book sale

The Friends of the Hancock County Public Library will hold its gently-used book sale from Thursday to Monday, November 15-19, at the Greenfield location. The Friends also offers audio books, DVDs and CDs.

On Thursday, November 15, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Friends shop their members-only preview sale. Walk-ins can join the organization at a cost of $15 and shop the preview that night. Pick up a membership form across from the library circulation desk.

The sale opens to the public 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday, November 16; 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, November 17; and 1-3:45 p.m. Sunday, November 18. Most hardbacks cost only a dollar, and paperbacks cost 50 cents. Children’s books are 50 cents and 25 cents. DVDs, CDs and audio books are only $1.

Bargain day is 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday, November 19. A standard paper grocery bag full of books sells for $3, a plastic grocery bag for $2.

Proceeds fund free concerts and children’s special events. The next donation date is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, November 12.

Teen/tween craft club

Tweens and teens ages 9-18 are invited to find your inner craftiness 4 to 5 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Sugar Creek branch, 5087 W. US 52, in the Lilly Technology Room. Join a club that meets once a month for snacks, a small craft, and lots of fun. For the November project, participants will learn a technique for layering scraps of colorful fabric to create an art collage. All supplies are provided.
