New Palestine, Mt. Vernon celebrate commencement

HANCOCK COUNTY— They turned their tassels and tossed their caps during one of the biggest nights of their young lives.

New Palestine High School’s and Mt. Vernon High School’s Class of 2018 graduated Friday, with ceremonies held at their respective schools that were filled with laughter, smiles and cheers.

Families, teachers, staff and friends filled the New Palestine High School gymnasium for the presentation of the diplomas to 261 seniors.

At the same time, across the county, Mt. Vernon’s school community gathered on the high school football field to watch as 311 seniors received their diplomas.
