GREENFIELD
Robert D. Thomas, 62, of Greenfield, passed away March 15, 2018 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born on August 4, 1955 in London, England as the son of Richard and Patricia Thomas.
He married Sherry (Robinson) Thomas on November 6, 1982 in Indianapolis.
He was a Tool Maker. Robert was a soccer coach for Mt. Vernon High School and New Palestine High School. He also helped start the New Palestine United Soccer Club and had most currently been an active coach at the Greenfield Area Soccer Club, coaching Boys Academy Soccer. Robert was adored and loved by his players. He enjoyed playing guitar, playing soccer, and spending time with family and friends.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sherry Thomas of Greenfield; son, Robert D. (Jennifer) Thomas II of Greenfield; daughter, Amber (Fred) Eyerman of New Palestine; brothers, Richard (Christine) Thomas of Indianapolis, and Ted (Heather)Thomas of Greenfield; sister, Julie (Dirk) Arning of Evansville; and five grandchildren, Carson Eyerman, Samantha Eyerman, Robert D. Thomas III, Emma Thomas, and Andrew Eyerman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Patricia Thomas.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 6:00 p.m. also at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Greenfield Area Soccer Club, 900 E Davis Rd, Greenfield, IN 46140, or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
