William “Bill” J. Ross passed away at the St. Vincent Hospice Center in Indianapolis on Wednesday January 24, 2018. He was born October 7, 1932 in Martinsville, IN to the late Albert Ross and Alma (Quakenbush) Sherfick.

Bill enjoyed life and all it had to offer. He served in the United States Marine Corp active duty from 1952 until 1955 during the Korean War and reserve duty until 1960. During his military career he was honored with the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Bill married the love of his life on September 25, 1954. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting and trap shooting. His greatest pleasure was the time he spent with his family. Prior to his retirement he enjoyed a 45-year career with Thomas and Skinner, Inc.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years Imogene, parents Albert Ross, Alma Sherfick and step-father Robert Sherfick.

Bill is survived by his two loving sons Bob and Mike, precious daughter in-law Cherie and his companion Sue Flory.

Friends may call 2 – 6 pm, Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 W. Main St. Greenfield, IN 46140. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Monday. Burial with full Military Rites provided by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard immediately following at New Palestine Cemetery.
