FAIRLAND, IN
Catherine M. Thompson, 80 years old, Fairland, IN, passed away at Ashford Place in Shelbyville, IN, from a long-term Illness.
Catherine was born in Chimayo, New Mexico, on June 10, 1937. She attended McCurdy EUB School in Espanola, New Mexico. She traveled east to attend and later graduate from Indiana Central College with a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics and Business Education. She achieved her Master’s degree from Indiana University.
While attending Indiana Central College, she met and later married Ted R. Thompson. Catherine taught school for 35 years at Clarke Township School, Warren Central High School, Indiana Central University and Walker Career Center. She retired in 1997 from New Palestine High School. She greatly enjoyed following all of the activities of her entire family. Her shelties gave her hours of enjoyment throughout her life. She also enjoyed gardening and making everyone’s favorite strawberry jam.
Catherine is preceded in death by her parents Esquipula and Ruth Martinez, her brother-in-law, Carroll Dial and his son Danny. She is survived by her husband Ted, daughters, Annette Thompson and Nancy Thompson, Suzan (Jim) Wittman, Grandsons Matt (Candice) Wittman, Randy (Angie) Wittman and Jarrett Kermode. Catherine also had six great grandchildren: Mason, A.J., Drayton, Kendall, Lilah and Brylie. She is also survived by Ted’s sister, Rose Mary Dial and her son Doug Dial.
Services for Catherine will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at 11:00 AM, at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 12442 Southeastern Ave, Acton, IN 46259. Friends may visit from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on, Friday, December 8, 2017 at Hendryx Mortuary – New Palestine Chapel, 19 E Main St, New Palestine, IN 46163.
