Greenfield native joins play

ANGOLA – The Trine University Drama Club has announced the cast for its upcoming production of “Almost, Maine.”

Performances will take place from Nov. 9 to 11 beginning at 7 p.m. each night in Wells Theater inside Taylor Hall on the Trine campus. All performances are free and open to the public.

Austin Baker, an informatics major from Greenfield, is among the cast members.

The play takes place in Almost, Maine, “a town that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. And it almost doesn’t exist. Because its residents never got around to getting organized.” On a cold, clear, mid-winter Friday night, the town’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways.

“Almost, Maine” was developed at the Cape Cod Theater Project in 2002 and received its world premiere at Portland Stage Company, where it broke box office records and garnered critical acclaim. It opened Off Broadway in the winter of 2005/2006 at the Daryl Roth Theatre and was subsequently published by Dramatists Play Service. To date, it has been produced by more than 2,500 theater companies in the United States, making it one of the most frequently produced plays of the past decade.
