Virginia J. Drayer, 91, of Greenfield,entered intoeternal rest on January 4, 2017 while at her daughter’s home in Randolph, Iowa. Virginia Drayer (Silverthorn) was born on May 2, 1925.

She was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. After high school she started working for Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana in the laboratory.

Virginia and Robert Drayer were united in marriage on September 5, 1945. In August 1949 they welcomed their only child, Sherry. Virginia began work as a real estate agent in late 1956 and then went back to school to get her broker license. After receiving her broker license she moved to Muncie, Indiana and started her own real estate firm, called Virginia Drayer Real Estate.

Virginia and her husband Bob purchased a fishing resort in Nevis, Minnesota in the early 70’s. They owned and operated Drayer’s Spider Lake Resort for 20 years before returning to Greenfield, Indiana. She returned to the real estate business in 1988 working for Mark Dudley. Virginia was a real estate broker for 60 years before retiring. Aside from real estate, Virginia had a love and passion for animals. She volunteered with PAWS to help rehome abandoned

pets.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Robert Drayer; her mother, Cordelia Droeger; father, Lloyd Silverthorne; sisters, June McKitrick and Peggy Winenke, and brother, Llyod Silverthorn, Jr.

Virginia was survived by her daughter Sherry Ford (Doug) of Randolph, IA; grandsons, Todd Warren and Tyrone Warren (Sandy) of Randolph, IA, Travis Warren of Indiana; granddaughter, Teresa Hansen (Jeff) of Omaha, NE; 6 great-grandchildren; and sister, Nancy Cooney of Greenfield, IN.

A private memorial service is being held for family members. Virginia’s interment will be at Park Cemetery in Greenfield, Indiana.
