SHIRLEY
Sheryl Ann Vaughn, 62, of Shirley, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at IU Methodist Hospital. She was born January 12, 1955 in Greenfield, Indiana to Thomas A. and Irene (Holt) McDaniel.
A 1973 graduate of Greenfield High School, she worked in the cafeteria at Eastern Hancock High School for several years and then at Gas America in Greenfield and Knightstown. Sheryl raised two sons, but was like a mother to many. Traveling to watch her two sons race and feeding the crew was her passion. She belonged to a local ladies euchre club, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She attended the Fishersburg Wesleyan Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 43 years, Gary D. Vaughn, whom she married on October 6, 1973; her mother, Irene McDaniel of Maryland; two sons, Robert Vaughn of Shirley and Brian A. Vaughn of Shirley; daughter-in- law, Rebecca Vaughn of Shirley; three grandchildren, Ashlee (Jordan) Spegal of Greenfield, Kelsey and Gary Alan Vaughn; two great-grandchildren, Aubree and Kinlee Spegal; two sisters, Linda (George) Plopper of Maryland and Sandy (Judd) Cromer of Indianapolis; one brother, Joe (Vicki) McDaniel of Carthage; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jordyn Makayla Vaughn; and a sister, Kathy Woods; her father- in- law and mother- in- law, Richard “Dickie”, and Doris Vaughn.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Reverend Duane Summit officiating. Burial will follow in McCray Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2017 at the funeral home.
